At Dickinsons we provide the opportunity for young people to have a career, not just a job.
How do we do this?
In what is a highly competitive market for trainee roles we offer 3 or 4 individuals starting out on their working lives, a full time opportunity to develop with study support as an accountant. The final aim being to qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
No longer are the old perceptions relevant. Accountants are business people with a forte in finance.
We help our trainees achieve this by giving them the opportunity to work with our clients to help them and assess their needs. Understanding what are and how to prepare statutory accounts, management accounts, personal and company tax returns as well as VAT returns. We will enable a young person to mature through academic and practical experience and provide them with the tools to work in the Business and Finance sector.
We send them on paid study to a private bespoke accounting college with a tailored programme to complete both the AAT and ACA qualifications.
Why Dickinsons?
As a small practice, we invest in our people and help manage their needs. We pride ourselves on offering a personal experience to help our trainees become chartered accountants. Each of our trainees are treated as individuals rather than ‘intakes’. Each trainee receives the right support throughout their studies as and when they need it.
The experience provided is well balanced in accordance with study progression, exposing each trainee to all areas of accounting as opposed to being placed in a department working just on one particular area.
We subsidise college fees and literature allowing each trainee to gain the qualification without a student loan.
Once you qualify, what next?
You are qualified with 5 to 6 years experience and still younger than 30!
Chartered accountants are recognised worldwide both in practice and industry and are sought after for many roles
Working overseas? Being your own accountant? Working for a large corporation? The choices are endless.
With over 20 years experience we can often tell which personalities and characters will be successful. Of course we look at a candidates’ academic history and look for either 3 A-levels (A-C Grade) and/or a University degree but we also believe hard work, commitment and determination are essential qualities too.
Do you know of anyone who may be suitable for our trainee programme?
We are currently taking on people with the intention of starting employment in the summer of 2016.
We are also currently looking for individuals who may have started their accountancy career with other firms but are looking for a change and might be partially through their studies.
Ideally we are looking for people with 2 years experience who are on the ACCA or ACA route.
Please contact us by sending your CV telling us why Dickinsons should invest in you.
